Privacy Policy – Car Contact
Privacy Policy
Car Contact · Effective 7 October 2026
Car Contact lets people message the owner of a parked car by scanning a QR sticker on the car, without either side seeing the other’s phone number. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. It covers the Car Contact Android app and the web page people see after scanning a sticker at madeinindiaapp.com/car.
Car Contact is run by madeinindiaapp (“we”, “us”). If you have any questions, email debdip.bc@gmail.com
In short: we collect only what’s needed to deliver messages between people and car owners. We never show the owner’s phone number, email or car number to the person scanning. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t show ads.
1. Information we collect
If you are a car owner (you use the app)
- Google account details: your name, email address and Google account ID, received when you choose “Continue with Google”. We do not receive your Google password.
- Your cars: the nickname you give each car (for example “White Swift”) and the QR code created for it. We do not ask for your car’s registration number.
- Messages and replies: messages sent to you through your QR stickers, and the replies you send back.
- Device token: a code from Firebase Cloud Messaging that lets us send notifications to your phone.
- Sign-in session: a random code stored on your phone so you stay signed in.
If you scan a sticker and send a message (no app needed)
- Your message: the reason you choose (for example “Your car is blocking the way”) and any text you type.
- Your mobile number, only if you choose to share it so the owner can call you back. It is shown only to that car’s owner.
- Your IP address, used to prevent spam and abuse. We store it only in a scrambled (hashed) form that cannot be turned back into your IP address.
- Your browser keeps a temporary note of the message you sent for about 15 minutes so you can see the owner’s reply. It is cleared when you close the tab.
We do not use your location, contacts, camera, photos or any other information from your device. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
2. How we use information
- To deliver messages from people who scan a sticker to the car’s owner, and to deliver the owner’s reply back.
- To send the owner a notification when a new message arrives.
- To sign owners in and keep their cars and messages private to them.
- To prevent spam and misuse, for example by limiting how many messages can be sent in a short time.
- To respond to support requests and comply with the law.
3. Who can see what
| Information | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Owner’s name, email, phone number | Nobody except us. Never shown to people who scan the sticker. |
| Car nickname | Only the owner, inside the app. |
| Message from the person who scanned | Only that car’s owner. |
| Callback number (if shared) | Only that car’s owner. |
| Owner’s reply | Only the person who sent that message, on the page they used. |
4. Services we use
We don’t sell or rent personal information. We share it only with these providers, who process it on our behalf to run the service:
- Hostinger: hosts our website and database, where cars, messages and accounts are stored.
- Google Sign-In: lets owners sign in with their Google account. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google): delivers notifications to the owner’s phone. The notification includes the message reason and text.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect people’s safety or the security of the service.
5. How long we keep information
- Messages and replies: until the owner deletes them in the app, or deletes their account.
- Cars and QR codes: until the owner removes the car. A removed car’s sticker stops working immediately.
- Spam-prevention records: deleted automatically, usually within a day.
- Account details: until the account is deleted.
6. Your choices and rights
- Delete messages: open a message in the app and tap Delete.
- Remove a car / stop a sticker working: My cars → choose the car → Remove this car, or Get a new QR code.
- Pause notifications for a car at any time in the app.
- Delete your account and all your data: email debdip.bc@gmail.com from the email address you signed in with, with the subject “Delete my Car Contact account”. We will delete your account, cars, messages and devices within 30 days and confirm by email.
- You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, at the same email address.
- If you sent a message by scanning a sticker and want it removed, email us with the approximate time and the reason you selected.
7. Security
All connections use HTTPS encryption. Sign-in codes and reply links are stored only in hashed form, IP addresses are stored only as hashes, and each owner can only access their own cars and messages. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify affected users of a serious breach as required by law.
8. Children
Car Contact is meant for adults. The app is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, please email us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. For important changes, we’ll also let owners know in the app or by email.
10. Contact and grievances
