Privacy Policy for DanceDeck

DanceDeck (“the app,” “we,” “our”) is a music player for organizing and playing dance-event playlists. This policy explains what data the app accesses and, just as importantly, what it does not do with it.

Summary

DanceDeck works entirely offline. It does not have an internet connection, does not collect analytics, does not show ads, does not require an account, and does not send any data to us or to any third party. Everything the app knows about your music library and playlists stays on your device.

Information We Access

DanceDeck accesses the following on-device information solely to provide its core functionality:

Audio files on your device (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older Android versions): used to scan your device’s music library (titles, artists, album art, duration) so it can be browsed and played inside the app. Files are read, never modified, copied off-device, or transmitted anywhere.
Playlists, favorites, and manually entered BPM/dance-style tags: created by you inside the app and stored locally in an on-device database. This data never leaves your device.
Phone call state (READ_PHONE_STATE): used only to detect when a call is ringing or active, so the app can automatically silence the ringer/call audio and keep your music playing uninterrupted during events. The app does not read, store, or transmit phone numbers, call logs, or any other telephony data.
Notification and “Do Not Disturb” access (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY): used to show playback controls in the notification shade/lock screen and, if you grant it, to temporarily silence the ringer as described above.
Bluetooth connection state (BLUETOOTH_CONNECT): used so playback and controls work correctly with Bluetooth speakers/headphones. No Bluetooth data is stored or shared.
Audio settings (MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS), wake lock, and foreground service permissions: used to control playback volume and keep music playing reliably in the background during events.

Information We Do NOT Collect

DanceDeck does not collect, store, or transmit:

Personal information (name, email, phone number, location)
Usage analytics or crash telemetry
Advertising identifiers
Any data to remote servers, since the app has no internet/network permission and makes no network requests

We do not share, sell, or transmit any data to third parties, because no data ever leaves your device. DanceDeck contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

Data Storage and Deletion

All app data (your playlist library, favorites, and tags) is stored locally in a database on your device. This data is automatically deleted when you uninstall the app, or you can clear it at any time via Android Settings > Apps > DanceDeck > Storage > Clear Data.

Children’s Privacy

DanceDeck does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all. The app is not directed at collecting personal data from any age group.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy if the app’s functionality changes (for example, if a future version adds cloud backup or Chromecast support, which would be disclosed here before release). Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
