Privacy Policy for CompressAnyFile

This Privacy Policy explains how Squeeze (“the App,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use the app. We built Squeeze to work entirely on your device, and this policy reflects that.

Summary

  • Squeeze does not collect, transmit, or store your files or personal data on any server.
  • All file compression happens locally on your device.
  • We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
  • We do not require you to create an account.
  • Squeeze does not request internet access and cannot send your files anywhere.

Information We Access

Files you choose to compress

When you tap “Choose a file,” Android’s built-in file picker (the Storage Access Framework) opens and lets you select a file. Squeeze only accesses the specific file you select — it does not browse, scan, or access any other files or folders on your device.

The selected file is copied into a private, app-only storage area on your device to be processed (compressed), and the compressed result is stored there as well. This data:

  • Never leaves your device.
  • Is not accessible to other apps unless you explicitly choose to share the compressed file (e.g., via the “Share compressed file” button, which uses Android’s standard share sheet).
  • Is deleted or overwritten as part of normal app operation and when the app’s cache is cleared.

Device permissions

Squeeze may request the following permission on older versions of Android (API level 32 and below, where the Storage Access Framework alone isn’t sufficient):

  • Read external storage — used only to read the file you actively select for compression.

Squeeze does not request:

  • Internet access
  • Camera or microphone access
  • Location access
  • Contacts, calendar, or other personal data access

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or any account information (Squeeze has no accounts)
  • Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or analytics data
  • The contents, names, or metadata of the files you compress
  • Usage statistics or crash reports transmitted to us or any third party

Third-Party Services

Squeeze uses the following open-source library to support PDF compression:

  • PDFBox-Android (Apache License 2.0) — runs entirely on-device to process PDF files. It does not transmit data externally.

Squeeze does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or cloud services.

Data Sharing

Since Squeeze does not collect or transmit your data, there is nothing for us to share with third parties, sell, or use for advertising purposes.

If you use the “Share compressed file” feature, the file is handed to whichever app you choose (e.g., email, messaging, cloud storage) via Android’s standard share mechanism — that transfer is controlled entirely by you and governed by the receiving app’s own privacy policy.

Children’s Privacy

Squeeze does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13, because the app does not collect information from any user. Squeeze is safe for use by a general audience for its intended file-compression purpose.

Data Security

Because all processing happens locally on your device and no data is transmitted to us, your files are only as secure as your device itself. We recommend using standard device security practices (screen lock, up-to-date OS) to protect data stored on your device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new app features. Changes will be posted here with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
